Mark Pritchard
President & Founder
|
Mark Pritchard is President and Chairman of the Board of Allied Minds Inc. After a career in investment banking in the City of London, latterly with Nomura International, Mark set up an investment fund specializing in early stage high tech investments which over time became an active investor in many of the portfolio companies. Allied Minds was a project Mark started working on in early 2005 and after considerable background due diligence on the concept, the company commenced operations in early 2006.
Mark was until recently Chairman of FuturaGene PLC, a biotech business focused on enhancing production yields and biomass in crops for the fuel and fibre industries. Established in 2004, with Mark as a founding investor, FuturaGene was built around intellectual property licensed from a number of prestigious universities. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA, a Brazilian based multinational, acquired FuturaGene for approximately $100 million in July 2010. Mark sits on the board of a number of other companies. He graduated with honors from Cass Business School, London in 1984.

Christopher Silva

Chris Silva is the Chief Executive Officer of Allied Minds, Inc. Before joining Allied Minds, Chris was a Partner at JSA Partners, a professional M&A and strategyconsultancy in Boston, MA, which provides high technology companies with market entry, competitive strategy, acquisitions and investment decisions. His consulting background includes three years with A.T. Kearney’s Aerospace Aviation and Defense Practice. Chris was also the Director of Business Development for GRC,International, a scientific and technical support contractor to the Department of Defense and US Intelligence community. Prior, Chris served in the U.S. Air Force and intelligence community. His education includes a degree in economics from Tufts University and a Masters of Business Administration.

Marc Eichenberger

Marc Eichenberger is the Chief Operating Officer of Allied Minds, Inc. Before joining Allied Minds, Marc established his own professional services firm and his roles included valuation, management advisory, M&A support and temporary senior executive roles, most recently as a Senior Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions with a transportation services firm. He also served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for a small manufacturer of expansion joints. Prior, Marc was a Senior Principal with the leading consultancy A.T. Kearney. Over 10 years, he supported acquisitions, strategy development, and drove the restructuring of underperforming businesses. Marc’s education includes a degree in economics and German from New York University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Marc was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Greg Erman
CEO in Residence

Greg Erman is a CEO in Residence at Allied Minds, Inc. Greg is responsible for our Medical Technology investment portfolio, leads new investments in medical device, diagnostic, analytical instrument, and healthcare IT businesses, and serves as CEO for a number of these portfolio companies. Prior to joining Allied Minds, Greg was President & CEO of three VC-backed companies where he managed the entire technology life cycle from academic research commercialization to exit multiple times. He has cultivated roughly 250 academic medical research projects over the last 10 years, built many companies from scratch, raised about $100M in venture capital, and successfully grown businesses to establish market leadership. Each of Greg’s VC-backed companies exited to large public companies and in some cases generated returns of many multiples of investment. His recent work includes developing noninvasive neurostimulation devices for treating chronic pain and running Renalworks Medical Corporation which built an implantable hemofilter for ESRD & CHF and was successfully sold to Fresenius Medical Care in 2007. Greg holds BSEE and Marketing MBA degrees with high honors from Rutgers University, is a mentor for six different organizations, and sits on numerous boards of directors and advisory boards.

Jorge de Dios

Jorge de Dios is a Vice President at Allied Minds. He brings extensive business and corporate development experience to the team, having built green-field startups and helping Fortune 500 companies develop strategies to gain competitive advantage. Before joining Allied Minds, Jorge spent six years in various positions helping build FiberTower Corp. from a startup into the leading alternative backhaul and access transport provider in the U.S. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of Strategy & Business Development, refining and executing operational plans to build new business units. Prior to FiberTower, Jorge was Director of International Market Development at Teligent, Inc., where he governed and executed international expansion strategies, principally in Latin America. He has several years’ consulting experience in providing strategies to domestic and international clients in both the private and public sectors. Jorge earned a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He is fluent in Spanish.

Vincent Chun
Vice President

Previously, Dr. Chun was senior manager in finance and operations at EMC, a large data storage company, managing projects to improve revenue performance by developing and collecting operational metrics, by standardizing global structure and processes, and by streamlining and enhancing IT infrastructure. His business experience includes several years as a consultant with A.T. Kearney where he participated and led strategic and market analyses, operational improvements and performance optimization efforts. Dr. Chun spent seven years as Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at a biotech subsidiary of Photon Research Associates, Inc., developing and commercializing molecular modeling software and services, through collaborations with academic and industry researchers and liaison with a major software distributor. Prior to that, he spent nine years in aerospace engineering, performing dynamics and controls modeling, simulation, and assessment for spacecraft and aircraft. Vincent’s education includes a PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management. He has published 18 journal articles, and has served as peer reviewer for several professional publications.

Roger Yang

Roger Yang is a Director at Allied Minds, Inc. in our Los Angeles office. Roger has extensive experience in technology assessment and planning, implementing integrated business and supply chain solutions as well as negotiations. He has worked both in industry and management consulting and was most recently with the turnaround and restructuring firm AlixPartners. His experience spans industries as diverse as High Tech and Aerospace to Consumer Packaged Goods and Energy around the world. Earlier in his career, Roger worked for Philips Lighting as a manufacturing engineer where he managed projects in their U.S., Mexico, and China facilities. Roger holds a Masters of Science in Industrial Administration with an emphasis on Operations and Strategy, from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at San Diego. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Daniel Behr

Daniel Behr is an entrepreneur with over 20 years experience commercializing a wide-range of technologies in the life and physical sciences. Most recently he was Director of Business Development at Harvard University’s Office of Technology Development where he launched 7 Harvard spinouts and drove numerous tech transfer initiatives. Prior to Harvard, Daniel co-founded 3 high-tech companies and was a General Partner of Seed Partners, a seed-stage angel fund. He was a founder of IN USA Inc. (industrial instruments); Compact Instruments (mass spectrometers – acquired by MKS); and Arradiance (advanced thin-film materials). Daniel’s portfolio at Seed Partners includes Zipcar, Nutfield Technology, NeXX Systems and [x+1]. Before his first startup Daniel was a strategy consultant at Bain & Co. and a materials research engineer at Albany International. He earned an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School and an engineering degree with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Daniel speaks German and is fluent in Spanish.

David Park

David Park is an Associate of Allied Minds, Inc. He has extensive experience in opportunity assessment, research, marketing, and business plan development. Before joining Allied Minds, David led product launches and other strategic initiatives as a Business Sponsor at Donovan Data Systems, the leading system and services provider to the advertising industry. Previously, he consulted for Fortune 100 companies in financial services, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals. Prior to management and technology consulting, he led projects at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation as a member of their Leadership Development Program. David earned an MBA and an MSIS at Boston University Graduate School of Management, as well as a CSS in Accounting and Finance at Harvard University, and a BA in International Relations at Tufts University.

Jeff Caputo
Associate

Jeff Caputo is an Associate in our Boston office. He brings over 13 years of relevant experience in medical devices, early-stage high tech, and healthcare. Before joining Allied Minds, Jeff spent eight years in sales and marketing management at Aspect Medical Systems, most recently as Manager of Market Development and Strategic Alliances. In this role he launched and managed products within surgery verticals, managed global strategic alliances with industry leaders such as GE, Philips, and Draeger, and assisted with business development efforts to identify and evaluate synergistic technologies for acquisition. Previously, Jeff was a territory manager within the surgical sales team. Prior to Aspect, Jeff held sales and marketing positions in the internet start-up industry, as well as provided direct patient care in emergency, cardiology, and neurology departments. Jeff’s education includes a BA in Biology and Psychology from St Olaf College, and an MBA from Boston College with a focus in Venture Capital and Entrepreneurial Management.
