Technology

BA Logix’s technology advantage is its use of Boolean acceleration. Algorithms and computer hardware can be described in terms of Boolean functions. Digital operations can be represented through partial and total derivatives of these Boolean functions. BA Logix’s novel technology involves computationally efficient calculations for these derivatives (which avoid the use of floating point arithmetic), and allows the development of high speed and low memory algorithms for a broad range of computationally intensive processes where speed is important.

As a demonstration of the technology’s strengths, BA Logix has implemented an edge detection algorithm, which has demonstrated consistently better quality of resulting edge maps than standards such as Canny, Sobel, and LoG. The algorithm has been implemented in Matlab and as a standalone C/C++ program. It has been implemented in hardware, where frame rates can be twice as fast as HD video. Integration with leading, off-the-shelf products and tools is being pursued.
