Algae have the potential for producing vast quantities of biostock for conversion into biofuels for transportation and heating. Our proprietary methodology for developing specific growth and productivity traits will help any algae production system improve its output of inexpensive, oil-rich algae as the raw material for the production of biofuel.

The algae-to-biofuels industry is in its early stages with significant challenges on both the engineering and biological fronts. Numerous public and private efforts worldwide are addressing the challenge of producing large-scale biomass with high lipid (oil) content and efficiently extracting and transforming it to a useful fuel product. AXI is initially targeting the development of unique physiological traits that permit efficient growth and processing of algae using proprietary techniques and supported by 25 years of primary phycology research.
